resumeBuddy tailors your resume, cover letter, and outreach message to a specific job posting, grounded in your own master resume. Until now that meant a browser extension. Two more ways to use it just landed, so the landing page now gives resumeBuddy its own section instead of one tile in the grid of small apps.
1. The browser extension
Unchanged: Chrome and Firefox-based browsers, right-click a job posting to capture it, bring your own key (Gemini, Groq, OpenRouter, or Claude). It's the only version with the right-click capture.
2. The web app, for Safari and your phone
There's no Safari extension, and that's on purpose: shipping one means paying Apple's yearly developer fee, and I decided not to. So Safari users get the same product as a PWA at resumebuddy.boringbydesign.com. It uses the same bring-your-own-key setup as the extension, and it's also handy on a phone when you're in a pinch and only need to tailor something quickly.
3. The Claude skill
If you already use Claude, you don't need a key at all. The
resumeBuddy skill
runs inside your own Claude session: give it your resume and a job
posting, and it produces a match-confidence assessment, tailored
bullets, an ATS-friendly resume, a cover letter, an elevator pitch,
and an executive bio, all grounded in what your resume actually
says. In Claude Code you drop it into ~/.claude/skills/;
on Claude.ai you upload it under Settings → Capabilities → Skills
(paid plans). The source is on
GitHub,
MIT-licensed.
What this means for privacy
The extension and the web app keep your resume in your browser and send it straight to the AI provider you picked. The skill is different: there's no key and no provider choice, because everything happens in your conversation with Claude. I don't run a backend for any of the three and I can't see your resume or your results, but for the skill, what Anthropic does with that conversation is governed by its policy and your plan's settings, not mine. I updated the privacy policy to say exactly that.
Which one should you use?
On a Chrome or Firefox desktop: the extension. On Safari or a phone: the web app. Already living in Claude: the skill. All three are free, and none of them needs an account with me.
